"Chilly" My Sun Conure
(Aratinga solstitialis)
This is Chilly the African Sun Conure
He hatched about April 2004
Pictures after this point are after his adult feathers came through and as you can see there is less green, before Sun Conures get there adult feathers they can often be confused with Jenday Conures
Chilly lays on his back on your hand or on the arm of the sofa, he dances and also bops his head up and down to music.
I clip his wings on a regular basis using the American method, just enough to restrict his flight so that he can still fly and land correctly.
I take him outside quite often now that the threat of bird flu has gone from this area, he will sit on my shoulder when I go outside and if he gets cold he tucks himself under my coat for a while to warm up. He also travels with us when we go to Norfolk (about 120 miles each way).
Chilly now talks, it took 5 years to get him to say "Hello" then he started to learn all the swear words in a month (I wonder where he picked all that up from).
He now says the following words and phrases:
"Hello"
"F**k you"
"F**k you too"
"F**k off"
"No"
He also makes the following sounds
Dog bark
Raspberry sound
Sniffing sound
"Charlie" African Grey
(Psittacus Erithacus)
He hatched 21st November 2006

Charlie started to talk in March and now says the following words and phrases:
Good morning
Hello
OK
Martin
What you doing
I'm sorry
What's up
He has been whistling the following tunes for quite some time now:
Close encounters
Woody woodpecker
Wolf whistle
He is also copying Chilly's squeaks.
Charlie died in September 2007 due to a fall (he had a wing defect from birth)
"Trixy" My Cat

Trixy died in 2008 of old age, she was 19 years old.
